Ford Links NYSE and NYMEX
The New York Stock Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange are reportedly in talks to create a partnership. Rumors began to surge last month of a possible merger, but now it appears that a deal between the two is just around the corner (see article from DealBook). An IntellectSpace Knowledge Map of the NYSE and NYMEX Holdings (parent of NYMEX) reveals a direct connection between the companies that may undoubtedly have a significant impact on the rest of the merger proceedings.
As you can see in the IntellectSpace Knowledge Map above, William E. Ford presently holds board memberships at not only NYSE but also at NYMEX Holdings (denoted by solid blue lines). Ford’s board memberships at both companies provides clarity to both sides as to the other company’s sentiments with regards to the deal. We predict that Ford’s duel directorships will serve to facilitate the deal and significantly ease the transition for NYSE and NYMEX if the companies do decide to strike a deal.
